Here's what you need to know this week:
We are only one vote away from VICTORY on the PRO Act, but we need your help crossing the finish line! The AFL-CIO is launching a PRO Act Week of Action July 17th - 25th as part of their 50-state strategy to see to that we pass this historic legislation.
The PRO Act would overturn right to work states, strengthen the Labor Relations Board allowing for accountability for union busting employers, and ensure workers can reach a first contract quickly. This is the most pro labor piece of legislation since the 1930's and President Biden has pledged that he would sign the bill into law.
We are on the cusp of achieving something that will truly revolutionize and strengthen our labor presence in Florida. You can find a list of events happening nation wide here.
Week of Action activities in West Central:
We have launched a PRO Act post card campaign aimed at Rick Scott and Marco Rubio. Many cards have been distributed across the labor council, please check with your local union coordinator about how to sign a post card. If your local has not received post cards, but would like to participate, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Pro Act Tampa Press Conference will be held on Friday July 23rd at 10 AM outside of Rick Scott and Marco Rubio's office, along side of distinguished guests and labor leaders, we will urge the Senators to take action for Florida's workers.
